Yahoo Voices Hacked 453,000 Passwords Leaked

After linkedIn now Yahoo! is hacked. Total 450,000 password are available online.With web servers of internet giant Yahoo proves insecure for its users, it is better to change your password if you’re a Yahoo Voices user, warns Mashable in one of its report.

Security for the service appears to have been compromised early Thursday morning. Hackers appear to have breached a Yahoo Voice server and posted around 453,000 user accounts and passwords online. D33Ds Company, a hacking group, made a file available on Wednesday with the credentials visible in plaintext. At the end of the document the group remarks that it posted the information to be a “Wake-up call” rather than a threat.

“We hope that the parties responsible for managing the security of this subdomain will take this as a wake-up call, and not as a threat,” the document says. “There have been many security holes exploited in webservers belonging to Yahoo! Inc. that have caused far greater damage than our disclosure.
“Please do not take them lightly. The subdomain and vulnerable parameters have not been posted to avoid further damage.”

The group also included this quote from Jean Vanier in its closing remarks: “Growth begins when we begin to accept our own weakness.”

What is autorun.inf ?

AUTORUN.INF Viruses are virus that uses the Autorun feature of Windows to spread itself on computers. This virus makes a copy of the autorun.inf file to the root or main directory
of all the drives on your PC, internal and / or external disks, to make the virus runs every time the external disks like pendrives or USB drives were inserted or every time you double-click the drives through the Windows Explorer

How to remove or block autorun.inf virus ?

For this purpose, you can download a software called “USB Disk Security”. This will automatically detecc virus whenever you insert pendrive and more importantly it will remove your virus as well.

Preventing AUTORUN.INF virus manually

The following are just generic instructions and some of the steps might not be applicable to some virus infections that uses autorun.inf.

The method is to create an AUTORUN.INF folder on the root directories (main directory usually represented by backslash symbol \ ) . You can do this via Windows Explorer or Command Prompt but I will recommend the method via Command Prompt.

• To run command prompt, click Start then Run or press the key combination: Winkey + R

• Type CMD then press enter. This will open the black and white environment.

• On the prompt, type MD C:\AUTORUN.INF then press enter key.

• Repeat this procedure to other hard drives and USB drives. Just replace the C letter from the command with the appropriate drive letter of each storage device.

How to make your system work faster– Increase Virtual Ram

If you want to use your system at much faster speed, you can now do it by increasing its virtual memory.

Here are the steps!!

• Hold down the ‘Windows‘ Key and Press the ‘Pause/Break’ button at the top right of your keyboard. Another way is Right-Clicking ‘My Computer’ and then Select ‘Properties’.
• Click on the ‘Advanced’ tab.
• Under ‘Performance’, click ‘Settings’.
• Then click the ‘Advanced’ tab on the button that pops up.
• Under ‘Virtual Memory‘ at the bottom, click ‘Change’.
• Click the ‘Custom Size’ button.
• For the initial size (depending on your HD space), type in anywhere from 1000-1500 (although I use 4000), and for the Maximum size type in anywhere from 2000-2500 (although I use 6000).
• Click ‘Set’, and then exit out of all of the windows.
• Finally, Restart your computer.
• You now have a faster computer and 1-2GB of Virtual RAM..!
